JDD Architects is merging with Florian Architects headed by Paul Florian , FAIA to become DeSALVOFLORIAN Architects. Both award winning architecture, interior and design firms combining to create contextual and contemporary  commercial and residential spaces.

JDD/Founding Principle John DeSalvo, a licensed professional in both the USA and Germany, takes the lead on all projects within the firm. He studied at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where he graduated with honors; moving to Berlin, Germany he worked for Sir Norman Foster on the Reichstag Parliament project then Helmut Jahn in both Berlin and Chicago, heading high-rise residential and commercial projects internationally. With his own architectural based practice in Chicago, John is dedicated to a comprehensive approach of integrating technology and sustainability into high end design. His projects have won numerous awards and recognition for producing quality, economic design solutions with an attention to detail.
In addition to his architectural practice, John is a free hand illustrator for Norton Press Publications architectural pocket guide book series which include Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami. He lectures frequently on rendering technique and has had numerous gallery exhibitions of his architectural drawings and paintings.
When not in the office John is an associate studio professor at The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). Since 2004 he has taught both undergraduate and graduate design studios, initiated a freehand rendering course and has run a European travel abroad program since 2011. John also is curator of the IIT student’s submission to the SOFA/CONNECT-Sculptural Objects Functional Arts- exhibition in Chicago.
